We got up at 6, and drove down to Adams to ride the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. This is on the alignment of the old Pittsfield and North Adams Railroad. This rail line was largely abandoned in 1990, and converted to a trail about 10 years later (although there are still scenic trains running from Adams north).

The day started out very foggy and humid, but not too hot, and we had a nice ride south (and gradually uphill) to Pittsfield, about 15 miles. By the time we got there and U-turned, the sun had burned off the fog, and the temperature was soaring. Luckily, the path was very well-shaded, and we were going somewhat downhill, so we didn't get too too hot on the ride back to Adams.
